Anthony Ottaviani, DO, of Largo, has been chosen "2005 Physician of the Year" by the Pinellas County Osteopathic Medical Society. The award was presented at the PCOMS Holiday Dinner Meeting at the Belleview-Biltmore Hotel.
Dr. Ottaviani is a graduate of the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. He received his internship and residency at Riverside Hospital in Trenton, Michigan.
Dr. Ottaviani presently serves as Regional Dean of the West Coast Campus of Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine where he is also a Professor of Internal Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
He was voted "Physician of the Year" by the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association in 1995. He has further received the Morris Osattin Outstanding Lecturer Award at Sun Coast Hospital and the Medical Excellence Award from the Sun Coast Hospital Foundation. He is Past President of the American College of Osteopathic Internists where he has served on the Board of Trustees for ten years. He was further selected as "Internist of the Year" in 2003 by the American College of Osteopathic Internists.
He currently serves as Vice-President of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association where he will serve as President in 2007-2008.
Dr. Ottaviani recently received the Alan J. Snider award for his service on the Board of Trustees for the Sun Coast Hospital Foundation. He has further served on the PCOMS Board of Trustees for the past eleven years.
